藍光治痘是一種『以毒攻毒』的生理滅菌方式。因為痤瘡桿菌的代謝過程中會產生大量的『內紫質』堆積在細菌細胞中，『內紫質』ＰｐＩＸ是一橘色的感光物質，也是人體製造血紅素的重要成份。當藍光照射進入毛孔中時，可與痤瘡桿菌的內紫質反應，造成內紫質的吸收與分解，釋放出大量的自由基，使痤瘡桿菌立即死亡，它可集中破壞細菌細胞，避免傷及週邊皮膚組織，是治療青春痘的重大突破。

對一般長在臉、頰、背部、胸部、上臂兩側，輕度至中度的發炎性痘子，都很適合接受藍光的光照療法。要小心的是敏感性肌膚或光敏感者、懷孕中或正在口服或塗抹光敏感藥劑之患者並不適合接受光照療法。

藍光光照治療時間每次約15-20分鐘，一星期約治療2-3次
